Coccyx Pain During Pregnancy: Why it Happens and How Pregnancy Massage May Help
As your baby grows and your body goes through incredible changes in Pregnancy, unexpected aches and pains can pop up.
One common complaint I hear from my clients is Coccyx pain, also known as tailbone pain.
it can make everyday moments such as sitting, getting in and out of the bed and car and turning at night.
Increase baby weight increases the pressure placed on the pelvis and lower back. This and changes in hormones, those which relax the ligaments for birth preparation can alter the way the joints and muscles work.
Can Pregnancy massage help?
Pregnancy massage can be a lovely way to support the areas surrounding the coccyx and pelvis.
We work through the surrounding muscles and soft tissues of the coccyx rather than the bone itself. The areas worked on include glutes, hips, lower back and upper legs. This may help you feel less tension around the pelvis and leave you feeling more unmfortable and mobile.
